*Listen to this podcast here:

My name is Brooke Wilkerson and I am the founder and host of this podcast, as well as, a small business owner, entrepreneur, wife and mother of two!

Each week, the podcast will feature interviews from successful small business owners, business professionals and much more! We’ll discuss the latest and greatest products that are relevant to business; how to capitalize on social media marketing; answer your submitted questions and so much more!

It’s my goal to inspire other people to pursue their crazy dreams and ultimately hire themselves! We’re going to share stories from other business owners that were once just like you, on the fence, scared, and unsure of whether to take that risk of hiring yourself and hopefully encourage you to make an informed decision that’s best for yourself and your family.

I also want to educate current entrepreneurs who are just getting started, or looking for some valuable, FREE information to help meet their goals and take their business to the next level.

And, lastly, just inform current small business owners on all things relevant to business, including, updates to social media marketing; apps to help you run your business better or more efficiently; and anything new and exciting in the small business world!

Just to give you a little background on myself, I grew up with parents who were also entrepreneurs. They had an extremely successful business for many years, that ultimately ended for a number of reasons. But, from a young age, I knew that I wanted to start my own business, I just didn’t know exactly what kind of business. During my early 20’s, while in college, I dabbled a little in Real Estate, a direct sales company and ended up writing off sales altogether. I didn’t think it was for me. When I was 23, I was working for a local bourbon distillery here in Kentucky, when I started thinking about a potential business idea- bourbon cupcakes in a jar. Crazy, right? I developed a business plan for school on this idea and realized that it had a lot of potential. So, I decided to pursue this idea, while keeping my full-time job, with the hopes that one day it could replace my full-time job. But like they say, if you want to hear God laugh, tell him your plans! No sooner than I registered my business name, I was unexpectedly laid off. The real kicker is that I was 6 months pregnant with my daughter, Peyton. To say that I was scared was an understatement. You know, It’s hard enough to find a job when you’re not 6 months pregnant, so I felt pretty hopeless. I was just so scared. What was I going to do? How was I going to bring a child into this world whilst unemployed? I was single, so I didn’t have anyone to rely on. I finally realized that maybe this was a blessing in disguise. I now had all of this time on my hands to focus on this business and I decided to dive in. I utilized all of my time and resources into my business and Peyton’s Bourbon Cupcakes is still thriving 4 years later.

Although, I was somewhat forced into entrepreneurship and hiring myself, I had a lot of encouragement from my friends and family. I know that coming from parents who were also entrepreneurs, it kinda gave me the mentality that I could go into business for myself without as much fear, compared to someone who isn’t as familiar with entrepreneurship. I hope that this podcast will encourage others to take that leap of faith and become a valuable resource to entrepreneurs everywhere!

Please give us a like on Facebook; a follow on Twitter and Pinterest. Also, if you have a question about small business- maybe your own crazy business idea, send me a message and we’ll answer it on one of the next podcasts! Thank you guys SO much for listening and I truly hope you guys enjoy what’s to come!
